Ranchers-Cattlmen Action Legal Fund members are gathering in Denver on Friday and Saturday for their 16th annual convention. Topping their activities is discussion about a new national strategy to defend Mandatory Country of Origin Labeling. CEO Bill Bullard says they’re working with a former Grain Inspection Packers and Stockyards Administration director on that strategy.
Bullard says they’ll also talk about the dangers of allowing imported fresh beef from Argentina and Brazil into the United States. He says they’re working on getting appropriation bills out of both houses that would delay the rule allowing that. Without passage of that, however, a flood of imported South American cattle will depress the U.S market.
He says they will also talk about private property rights.
Bullard says they’ll also talk about potential trade agreements, such as the Trans Pacific Partnership.
