European Union Trade Commissioner Phil Hogan is scheduled for talks with President Trump this week with hopes of improving trade relations. Nebraska Cattlemen Association President Ken Herz says while the EU is accepting a larger quota of beef, they’re still banning hormone treated product.

He’s hoping U.S. negotiators can make progress with the E.U. on lifting barriers to increase trade.

Previously EU leaders stated they didn’t want to include agriculture in the free trade deal. Hoever, Herz is hoping U.S. officials can convince Hogan, who recently took over as E.U. Trade Commissioner, to change that position.

Former U.S. Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says Phil Hogan takes his job very seriously and is a fair but tough negotiator.
