Cattle producers from across the country are developing policy this week at the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association summer meeting in Denver. Policy Division Chair and Minnesota cattleman Don Schiefelbein says they’re working on trade policy, with a large focus on China and getting full access for U.S. beef.

He says another major policy push is on the fake meat issue and proper labeling to provide clarity for consumers.

Schiefelbein says one victory they achieved was convincing USDA to move up the harvest date from November 1 to September 1 for cover crops.

Schiefelbein says they hope to finalize policy by September when they meet again.
