Cattle President Seeks Long Term Propane Solution

The severe propane shortage experienced in Minnesota this winter led Senator Al Franken to press federal and industry officials to be more smarter and responsive to the potential of future shortages. Minnesota Cattlemen Association President Dar Geiss says he expects another shortage this coming winter and solutions need to be found soon.
Geiss advises his fellow producers to get all the propane they need right away and store it.
Geiss says a workable long term fix is needed and having propane shipped by rail is not the answer. He says there are some other options available.
Demand in Minnesota last year for propane rose from 166 million gallons to 291 million gallons, an increase of over 100 million gallons. Franken suggested creating a Strategic Propane Reserve that can be tapped only by the President.
