A Piplsay Survey released at the Consumer Technology Association’s conference shows that nearly a third of over 30,000 people surveyed believe fake meat or alternative protein products are incomparable compared to real meat. South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association President Eric Jennings says that’s positive news for America’s cattle producers.
The report also said that 53 percent of those surveyed said they’d tried alternative protein meat one time but only 12 percent said they consumed it on a regular basis. Jennings says that’s also positive and that most who eat real meat are satisfied.
He says the survey also indicates that alternative protein meat products are highly processed and not as healthy as real meat.
The survey shows that more than 50 percent of baby boomers say they have no interest in trying fake meats while only 16 percent of millennials say they eat fake meat regularly.
