Not everyone in the cattle industry is supporting the call for a Referendum vote on the Beef Checkoff. Concerned with that movement is Eric Jennings, President of the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association. He says if that vote is allowed and goes through it would eliminate the beef checkoff.

He says the beef checkoff is one of the best defenses cattle producers have against anti animal ag activists and it has also has led to the development of very valuable and new beef products economically benefitting producers.

Jennings says since its inception the beef checkoff has provided a great deal of value for cattle producers.

Jennings says most of the producers he’s talked to see the benefit of the beef checkoff and want to see it continue.
