Open Beef Trade Worries

Beef from a country known to have problems with Foot and Mouth Disease could soon be coming into the United States. That’s following a World Trade Organization Decision that calls for Argentinian beef to be allowed into the United States. South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association President Todd Wilkinson says it’s one of the top concerns of his group.
Wilkinson says there’s not much time to deal with this problem before it’s on the doorstep of the United States.
Wilkinson says his group is telling the President and Congress to take swift action to prevent these imports from occurring and possibly devastating the U.S. cattle herd.
Recently the WTO ruled the U.S. ban on Argentinian beef had no justification. That ban had been in place for twelve years.
