Enrollment for the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program Two payments began Monday at County Farm Service Agency offices and runs through December 11. South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association President Eric Jennings says damage was done by the pandemic to cattle producers starting back in February so this package is badly needed.

National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s Vice President of Government Affairs Ethan Lane says his group is pleased to see the USDA using unspent funds in the CFAP to provide further relief to cattle producers.

Jennings says CFAP 2 will be good for fat cattle producers but more aid is needed for the entire industry as bulls and cows were left out of the second round of assistance.

Jennings says CFAP 2 provides at $55 a head payment for any non breeding cattle and while helpful, more is needed to help those producers recover from the pandemic.
