Cattle Group’s Top Priorities Are Property Tax And Brand Bills As Unicameral Reconvenes

Nebraska Cattlemen Association officials are hoping State Senators when the reconvene address property taxes and pass a relief measure. The other bill they’re hoping to see get approved is a compromise measure involving the brand committee. Jessica Herrmann is the group’s Vice President of Legal and Government Relations. She says their top goal is property tax relief.

She says Senators will have to act quickly to get any bill approved as they’ll likely only be in session for about three weeks whenever the Speaker calls them back.

Herrmann says while they’d like to see the brand legislation approved may not see any movement on it until the next session given the time constraints.

Herrmann says the most complicated piece of legislation is property tax relief so that’s the major challenge facing the Unicameral.
