Cattle Group To Continue Fighting WOTUS

The U.S. Senate fell short in an effort to block the EPA’s Clean Water Rule also known as WOTUS. The vote was 56 to 42 in favor however 60 votes are needed for passage of the amendment that would have been attached to the fiscal 2017 funding bill for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. South Dakota Cattlemen’s President Todd Wilkinson was disappointed the measure failed but says there will be other attempts to stop the EPA’s rule.

He says his group will continue to oppose the Waters of the U.S. regulation.

Wilkinson says because President Obama will likely veto any attempt to stop the Clean Water Rule, it’s even more important producers get active during the political process this year as the nation decides on a new Chief Executive.

Last year a Circuit Court of Appeals issued a nationwide stay on the WOTUS rule.
