The United States Cattlemen Association members want Congress to ratify the remake of NAFTA, the USMCA. And Vice President Mike Pence says the administration is pushing lawmakers to get it done this summer. U.S. Cattlemen’s Association President Kenny Graner says that deal must go forward to help cattle producers move their product to export markets.

He’s glad Canada moved forward this week to present the USMCA to their House of Commons and is hoping that will spur U.S. lawmakers to move forward as well.

Canada is the top trading partner for the U.S. receiving roughly 75 percent of U.S. goods. Graner says that’s significant enough to make ratification of this trade pact imperative.

The move by Canada to present the USMCA to their House of Commons came less than two weeks after the U.S. lifted steel and aluminum tariffs that had been placed on Canada.
