Reports this week are that negotiators are nearing completion of an agreement on the rewrite of the North American Free Trade Agreement between the United States and Mexico. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s Vice President of Government Affairs Colin Woodall says all signs are that significant progress is being made even though we’re not quite to the finish line.

Woodall says if the U.S. and Mexico can reach agreement then hopefully they can then push the Canadiens to accept the agreement they’ve reached and finish the remake.

Woodall says the fact Mexican trade officials spent at least two weeks in Washington D.C. visiting with U.S. negotiators is a positive indication they’re not only making progress but hopefully getting closer to a deal.
