Cattle Group Hoping For Senate Approval Of Anti Wotus Bill

National Cattlemen Beef Association leaders are hoping this week’s strong vote in the House approving legislation blocking EPA’s proposed Waters of the U.S. rule will carry it through the Senate. NCBA Environmental Counsel Ashley McDonald says her group while encouraged by the House’s bipartisan support knows it will be a battle to get it passed in the Senate.
McDonald says not only do they need to get the measure approved in the Senate, they also need enough backing to be able to override an expected Presidential veto.
The just passed House bill had 120 co sponsors. The measure keeps EPA from expanding control of the nation’s land and water resources and doesn’t allow the agency to narrow the scope of what’s considered normal farming and ranching practices.
