Last week, the United States Cattlemen’s Association held a virtual Fly In in the nation’s capital where 50 of their members spoke with members of Congress about issues hitting their industry. USCA President Brooke Miller says their top issue is the broken cattle market and the need to address the concentration problem in the meat packing industry that’s led to uncompetitive markets.

He says another problem their members spoke to Congress about was the need to get more coronavirus food assistance relief to the producers who have suffered the most losses due to the pandemic.

Miller says another concern had to do with trade and the U.S. accepting beef from countries that have disease problems such as F-M-D.

Miller says they also shared the need for re instituting mandatory country of origin labeling.
