The Implements of Husbandry Legislation, LB 977, that defines weight limits on ag vehicles had its first reading the Nebraska Unicameral this week. The measure is a priority bill for the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Association. Director of Legislative Affairs for the Cattlemen’s Group, Laura Field says this measure more clearly defines road rules for those ag vehicles.

She says the sizes of agricultural equipment have changed over the years and enforcement on their weight limits on the roads vary from one part of the state to the other creating confusion.

Field says although time is winding down in the 2016 session, the bill received great backing in committee this week and they’re optimistic about its chances for passing going forward.

Field says they’ve also gotten the support of not only several State Senators but also the governor’s office and state transportation officials.
