Cantor Defeat Doesn’t Doom Immigration Bill

Cantor Defeat Doesn’t Doom Immigration Bill

The defeat of Republican House leader Eric Cantor in this week’s Virginia primary doesn’t doom the prospects for passing immigration legislation but it doesn’t necessarily help either. That’s according to Chris Galen of the National Milk Producers Federation. He says much depends upon what other House leaders will do about the immigration bill.
Galen says his group and other pro immigration organizations will have to keep putting pressure on the House to pass the reform measure despite what happens in the various elections.
Galen says Cantor’s leaving means House Speaker John Boehner will have more latitude to get something done on immigration.
