Medicaid expansion has been a key issue for the candidates running for South Dakota District 17 State Representatives. Republican Nancy Rasmussen from Hurley is not fully in favor of expanding coverage in the state.

Sheri Kaufman is a republican from Vermillion, and she says expanded coverage could be abused and violates the rights of certain taxpayers.

Democrat Marion Sorlien, of Viborg, however, supports expansion.

Ray Ring is a democrat and lives in Vermillion and says not accepting the Medicaid expansion is not what is best for South Dakota.
