A World Health Organization report says red and processed meat have the potential to cause cancer in humans. The determination came from the International Agency for Research on Cancer. Dave Preisler, Minnesota Pork Executive Director says there are dozens of studies showing no correlation between meat and cancer and the studies used by IRAC are inconclusive.

IARC says fresh meats are considered at the same risk level as the widely used herbicide glyphosate….while processed meats are on par with smoking cigarettes when it comes to risk, especially regarding colon cancer. Preisler says that that defies common sense.

Preisler says beyond that the studies use by IRAC were subjective and did not have statistically significant results or were based on high levels of consumption.

There are several studies showing that eating lean meats can help fight obesity, which is one of the leading causes of cancer.

IRAC has previously classified as carcinogens such things as sunlight, alcoholic beverages and being a barber.
