Canadians Closely Monitoring NAFTA Discussions

Canadians are closely monitoring discussions between U.S. and Mexican officials on the North American Free Trade Agreement. Canadian Cattlemen’s Association Director of Government and International Relations John Masswohl says it makes sense for each country to work out their bilateral issues before completing a final three way agreement.

He expects Canada to return to the discussions and thinks the three countries will be able to forge a new pact.

Masswohl says his country isn’t worried about meeting a deadline for an agreement, he just wants to see a solid deal that helps Canada, the United States and Mexico.

Canadians recently surveyed find four in ten expect the NAFTA negotiations to produce a revised NAFTA that is either a fair deal or overly favorable to the United States.
