Canadian officials are concerned not only with the latest report of Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus showing up in Manitoba but all over their country. Canadian Pork Council Executive Director Martin Rice says it’s been spreading over a wide distance and moving very quickly.

Rice says they’re still trying to figure out how it got so far so fast and what’s caused it.

Rice says there’s not much producers can do to battle PED virus except to practice good biosecurity on their operations.

He’s hoping researchers will be able to find some type of a vaccine against the virus but now there’s not much else producers can do except biosecurity.
