Canadian Cattlemen Association leaders support the U.S. House of Representatives’ vote to repeal Country of Origin Labeling. In a recent ruling, the WTO claimed COOL was trade distorting. Canadian Cattlemen Association’s Director of Government and International Relations, John Masswohl says they’re watching the legislative process closely and hoping for total repeal, so they won’t have to proceed with retaliation.

Masswohl says Canadian leaders are serious about retaliation unless the U.S. does something about the trade distorting rule.

He says if the United States was in the same position Canada is in, they wouldn’t hesitate to retaliate with tariffs.

Masswohl doesn’t think the U.S. has much time to experiment with different concepts for fixing Country of Origin Labeling.
