House Ag Ranking member Collin Peterson of Minnesota says his vote on Trade Promotion Authority depends on whether Canada will reform its dairy supply management program and allow market access for U.S. dairy producers. Minnesota Milk Producers President Pat Lunemann says while Canada’s supply management system works for their producers they need to give somewhat on market access in order for the Trans Pacific Partnership to pass.

He says most trade agreements work the best when all sides are able to compromise and put together a deal that works for all interests.

Lunemann says the flip side of the whole issue is that some Canadian Cooperatives have been buying dairy processing companies in the U.S. and will likely buy U.S. milk and sell it in international markets.
