Canada Wants Japan To Come To Table On TPP

The U.S. isn’t the only country that wants Japan to lower its tariffs to zero in a final TPP agreement. Canada does as well. Canadian Cattlemen Associations’ Director of Government and International Relations John Masswohl says he’s hoping Japan will come to the table. He’s also hoping the latest resignation by one of their ministers doesn’t bring negotiations back to square one and squander progress that’s already been made.
Masswohl says Canada, the U.S. and other countries involved in the TPP talks need to make sure they don’t give in to Japan’s demands.
Masswohl says that’s a slippery slope that would take a lot of value out of the agreement.
