The South Dakota legislature this year attempted to put an end to several years of disagreements over access to flooded lakes over private lands.
Representative Lee Qualm of Platte chaired a special committee last year that came up with a compromise bill.
Qualm says the Game, Fish & Parks Department has been doing a good job of working with landowners to reopen those closed lakes……
Qualm says all sides will need to continue working on the issue…..
The bill that came out of the committee last year was approved in a special session. The legislature this year took the sunset date off the bill. Qualm says that was necessary……
Qualm says the G-F & P seems more willing now to listen to, and work with landowners.
