South Dakota State University Extension is set to host a training session on March 2nd for operators of Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations or CAFOs at the Cross Roads Convention Center in Huron.  This program meets one of the requirements needed for the new General Water Pollution Control Permit stating that an onsite representative needs to attend an approved environmental training program within the last three years prior to obtaining a new permit. SDSU Extension Swine specialist Bob Thaler says the day is prepared to focus on all topics regarding CAFOs.

He says the day is not just for farmers but also for the public to attend.

Thaler also noted that the day will highlight the positives of the current management practices from our producers.

To find more information about the day go to SDSU Extension website.
