A tentative agreement has been reached on Governor Mark Dayton’s buffer zone proposal in Minnesota. Dayton wanted 50 foot buffers around every water body in the state to help improve water quality. State Farmers Union Government Relations Director Thom Petersen says the compromise language is included in the Ag Finance measure.

Petersen says the Governor did sign the Ag Policy bill which has several important provisions that will help the state’s farmers and ranchers.
He says if the Governor vetoes the budget measure then a special legislative session will be held.
