The U.S. House budget resolution they’re proposing would direct the House Ag Committee to cut $ 1 billion over 10 years. South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott Vanderwal says it doesn’t make sense to cut farm programs any more as the savings would amount to very little in the long run.

Vanderwal says when considering cuts, lawmakers need to look at all programs and not just focus on one area of the budget.

House Agriculture Committee Chairman Mike Conaway says the 10 year, $ 1 billion cut is smaller than the budget committee had originally been considering.
