Broad Compromise Needed for SD Animal Diagnostic Lab

South Dakota legislators made a deal that will fund a major renovation and expansion of the Animal Disease Research and Diagnostic Lab at South Dakota State in Brookings.
Senator Jason Frerichs of Wilmot, says it was a wide ranging compromise…..

Frerichs says legislators recognized how important the lab is to the state…..

Much of the funding will come from a property tax rebate, about ten cents an acre, that was set up by last year’s half cent sale tax increase.
Frerichs says it will be well worth the cost…..

The state will finance about fifty-one million dollars of the labs cost, with another ten million dollars coming from the Board of Regents and South Dakota State.
