Players from Briar Cliff have swept the weekly basketball awards from the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

Women – Jessi Corrick, Briar Cliff University (Guard)

Briar Cliff guard Jessi Corrick is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports women’s basketball player-of-the-week.  Corrick, a senior from Esko, Minnesota, led the Chargers to a 1-1 record last week, falling 95-79 to No. 2 Morningside and rolling past No. 13 Concordia 75-55. Corrick scored a career-high 31 points against the Mustangs, shooting 11-of-18 from the field, 3-of-7 from long range and 6-of-7 from the charity stripe to go with seven rebounds, seven assists and one steal. She followed that up with a 17-point performance against the Bulldogs and snared six rebounds, three assists and one block. As a point guard, Corrick averaged 24 ppg, 6.5 rpg and 5.0 apg for the week. The Chargers secure a home game in the GPAC Quarterfinals. Briar Cliff is are 21-8 and 14-8 in league play.

 

Men – Clay Harreld, Briar Cliff University (Guard)

Briar Cliff guard Clay Harreld is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports men’s basketball player-of-the-week.  Harreld, a senior from Williams, Iowa, helped the sixth-ranked Briar Cliff men’s basketball team pick up two more wins last week, scoring 18 points in the team’s 91-66 win over Morningside, scoring all 18 points on six three pointers. Harreld stayed hot from beyond the arc against Concordia, dropping in nine triples and falling one short of tying the school record with 10 threes in a game. Overall, Harreld scored 31 points against the Bulldogs. He averaged 24.5 ppg for the week while going 15-of-25 from long range and 16-of-27 from the field. Harreld is now averaging 17.5 ppg this season and has made 120 threes.  The Chargers are 27-3 overall and 18-2 in the GPAC standings.
