Briar Cliff will be the number one seed when the 2016 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men’s Postseason Basketball Tournament begins on Wednesday, February 24.

The No. 6 ranked Chargers went 18-2 in the GPAC and 27-3 for the season.  With the number one seed the Chargers have secured an automatic berth to the NAIA Men’s Division II National Tournament in Point Lookout, Missouri, which runs March 9-15 at the College of the Ozarks.  Nebraska Wesleyan is the two seed, Dakota Wesleyan the three seed, and Midland will be the fourth seed. The top four seeds all host first round games, Hastings is seeded fifth, Concordia is sixth, Dordt is seeded seventh, and Northwestern is the eighth seed.  The GPAC tiebreakers were used to determine the 7/8 seed.

The semifinals are on Saturday, February 27, at the highest two remaining seeds.  GPAC Championship Tuesday, sponsored by Rawlings, will be on Tuesday, March 1.  The GPAC Postseason Tournament Champion garners an automatic berth to the NAIA National Basketball Tournament (the runner-up gains the berth if the regular season champion (top seed Briar Cliff) wins the postseason).
