A measure introduced last week to raise the cap on brand fees in Nebraska is expected to come up in committee this week. Brand Board member Joe Pongratz says the measure is being carried by Senator Al Davis. If approved it won’t result in a fee increase for those using the program.
Pongratz says there are several reasons they want the cap hike including the need for a technology update to keep the brand program running efficiently and effectively.
Most of the Nebraska agricultural groups back the measure including the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Association, the Independent Cattlemen of Nebraska, the Farm Bureau and Farmers Union.
