The Beef Quality Assurance Programs in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota are hosting a series of Low Stress Cattle Handling Seminars this week. Ashley Kohls (Cools), Midwest Beef Quality Assurance Program Coordinator says the BQA program and the series focus on effective stockmanship.
Effective stockmanship and handling techniques provide cattlemen with the tools to produce safe, healthy, and wholesome beef. And she says they’re excited to feature Stockmanship Expert, Curt Pate.
Kohls says implementing low-stress cattle handling is beneficial for animal welfare, and increases the quality of beef for consumers. And the techniques are easy to learn.
The meetings Monday include Chandler, Minnesota in the morning and the Turner County Dairy in Parker in the afternoon. Tuesday they’ll start out at the Bakken Feedlot near Garretson and then be at SDSU in the afternoon. Wednesday features an afternoon seminar at Moes Feedlot in Florence and Thursday and Friday they move to North Dakota. For more information go to mnbeef.org.
