Dr. Annette Bosworth has been sentenced to prison for her conviction of violating election filing laws. She was found guilty on six counts of perjury, and filing false documents.
Bosworth addressed Judge John Brown in Circuit Court in Pierre, saying too much money in the Senate campaign made her a target…
Bosworth asked for probation, so she could use her medical skills to help the underserved…
Brown said he did not hear Bosworth take responsibility for the crimes…
Brown sentenced her to two years in prison on each count, to be served concurrently, but then suspended the sentences and placed her on three years’ probation. He also ordered her to perform five hundred hours of community service in South Dakota.
The charges stem from Bosworth signing nominating petitions at a time when she was actually out of the country. Bosworth was running as a republican candidate for the Senate nomination in 2014.
