The U.S. Homeland Security Department has announced the continued closure of the U.S. Canada Border through September 21, citing COVID 19 concerns. The closure includes restrictions on non-essential travel but ensures the flow of essential trade and travel. Nebraska Farm Bureau’s Director of National Affairs Jordan Dux says that’s important because Canada is an important customer of U.S. Product and part of the USMCA trade deal.

He says his groups supports what Homeland Security is doing to protect people with this border decision.

Dux says so far the USMCA is working well but some bugs have yet to be worked out including some problems with Canada and its dairy system.

Dux says his group continues to support the USMCA agreement because overall its beneficial for U.S. agriculture.
