A Federal Judge has ordered the Dakota Access Pipeline Project to shut down while a lengthy environmental review is conducted. BOLD Iowa’s Executive Director Ed Fallon is pleased with the ruling as his group has been fighting against that project since BOLD Iowa was formed five years ago.

The Dakota Access pipeline runs from North Dakota through South Dakota and into Iowa and ending up in Illinois. Fallon says the pipeline has caused damage to ag land, crops and to soils.

Fallon says BOLD Iowa will remain engaged in this issue and will weigh in with the courts and those conducting the environmental review as well as with Iowa officials.

The court has now instructed the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to complete a full Environmental Impact Statement on the project.
