BOLD Nebraska officials say now that Trans Canada has given up on its fight in Nebraska Court against landowners challenging their pipeline, they’ll have to go through a rigorous approval process through the State Public Service Commission. BOLD Director Jane Kleeb says going that route will be fruitless should President Obama deny them a federal permit.
Kleeb says Nebraska Landowners are relieved for the time being with Trans Canada pulling out of the court action. She says however there’s still problems with one current state regulation.
The law Kleeb is referring to is the one that gives the Governor the power to grant permits for pipelines. She says there are two laws on the books, one giving power to the Governor, the other requiring pipelines to go through the State Public Service Commission.
