Body of Missing Yankton Man Found in Lewis & Clark Lake

On Friday, the Yankton County Sheriff’s Office was requested to assist in locating a Yankton male. A fishing boat, owned by 53 year old Duane Ernster was located unattended near the Nebraska shore at Lewis and Clark Lake. A search of Lewis and Clark Lake began and continued through the weekend.
Today (Monday) at approximately 10:05 am. a person camping at the Gavin’s Point campground, discovered a body in the water near the shore. The body was identified as Duane Ernster.
An autopsy of the victim has been scheduled.
Agencies that assisted in the search were the South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks, Nebraska Game, Fish, and Parks, Yankton County Search and Rescue, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Knox County Emergency Management, Yankton County Emergency Management, Nebraska Parks Service, Nebraska State Patrol, and the Yankton County Sheriff’s Office.
