. The Hanson County Sheriff’s Office says Kay Flittie was last seen at 7pm on I-90 near mile marker 352 on April 5th.
A South Dakota Endangered Missing Advisory issued on April 12th stated Flittie left Sioux Falls on April 5th to drive to Arkansas to visit a relative. A family member received a call from Flittie around 2pm on April 5th that originated in a rural area of Hanson County. The advisory stated law enforcement received calls of a woman who appeared confused and was walking on the shoulder of the road during the same timeframe but was unable to locate her but recovered Flittie’s car.
A massive search began on Saturday that included family members, numerous organizations and 120 volunteers. Flittie’s body was recovered approximately four miles east of where she was last seen. Her death is being investigated.
