The South Dakota Board on Geographic Names is holding a meeting next week to gain public input on the naming of a creek and an island near Sioux Falls.  The first feature is a creek in Minnehaha County, which has two proposed names already; “Annie Anderson Creek” and “Manning Creek”.  The second feature is an island in the Big Sioux River near Dell Rapids that could be called “Quarry Island”…

June Hansen represents the Department of Transportation on the board and says that the meeting is to gain public opinion on the names to later submit to the national board…

The meeting will be held Tuesday at the Sioux Falls Main Library at 7:00 pm.
