Blood Donations Needed For Summer

Blood Donations Needed For Summer

The upcoming summer season brings with it busier schedules, and LifeServe Blood Center, based in Sioux City, Iowa, finds their blood supply falls low as people take less time to make regular donations. Claire DeRoin, Community Relations Director, says the lower supply doesn’t mean that less blood is needed.

She says that the center is hoping to keep a full supply during the critical summer months. One donation could keep several people alive.

DeRoin encourages anyone eligible to make a donation. She says the two blood types that are in highest demand now are AB negative and O negative.

LifeServe Blood Center serves most of Iowa, Southeast South Dakota, and Northeast Nebraska, providing blood for about 100 hospitals.
