A longtime football rivalry involving two small South Dakota colleges is getting some national attention.
This year’s game between the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and Black Hills State University will be broadcast by ESPN3.
Officials at the schools hope the Sept. 12 game in Rapid City will expose their programs to more athletes from around the country.
The “Black Hills Brawl” rivalry between the schools goes back 130 years and is the oldest rivalry in NCAA Division II. Through the years, Mines has won two more games in the series than Black Hills State.
