The number of positive cases of the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, or commonly called the “bird flu” is declining in numbers in Iowa. Agriculture Secretary Mike Naig says for a period of more than a week there were no additional reported cases.
Naig says, although still a concern, the state has witnessed far fewer cases of the bird flu this year compared to 2015.
The Iowa agriculture official says wild birds introduced the disease to the state’s poultry industry.
