More lawmakers are showing support for a national biotech labeling law. The House Energy and Commerce subcommittee reviewed the measure that would create a national, voluntary standard for labeling biotech products. South Dakota Soybean Association President, John Horter says it’s beneficial for both consumers and producers.
The law has a provision in it to require food makers to go through a USDA program to receive a certified non-GMO label for their products.
Horter says it’s less hassle to have a national labeling measure rather than several different and varied state regulations.
