The House has passed Congressman Mike Pompeo’s voluntary Biotech Labeling legislation. The National Corn Grower’s Association applauds the move. NCGA Board member and South Dakota Corn Grower’s President Keith Alverson is optimistic about it passing in the Senate although it may not come up for debate until later this fall.
Alverson says the science proves biotech products are proven safe and having a solid uniform piece labeling program is important in getting that message out.
Alverson says the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act creates a consumer friendly science based labeling standard for foods made with genetically modified organisms as well as for GMO free foods.
