Biofuels Groups Submit Comments to EPA on RVOs and SREs

Biofuels groups have submitted comments on EPA’s proposed Renewable Volume Obligations and the recommended denial of Small Refinery Exemptions.   Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Executive Director Monte Shaw says they encouraged the agency to restore the blending levels mandated by law in the Renewable Fuels Standard.

Monday was the last day to comment on EPA’s proposal to deny 65 pending SRE’s.  Shaw says they pointed out that the refiners cannot show economic hardship, so those waivers should be denied.

He says they hope the integrity of the RFS can somehow be restored but EPA doesn’t have a good track record.

Just last week farm state lawmakers also wrote EPA demanding they follow the law when implementing the RFS.
