Legislation to mandate E-15 use in the state is making its way through the Minnesota Legislature. Minnesota Biofuels Association Executive Director Tim Rudnicki says a counsel formed by Governor Tim Walz brought forward recommendations for higher biofuels use and funding for renewable infrastructure.
He says the volume of E-15 ranges from 30 to 40 percent of overall fuel sold in the state.
Rudnicki says putting forward higher levels of biofuels meets the national push for battling climate change.
The legislation currently being considered by Minnesota lawmakers would require all Minnesota gasoline retailers to comply with the E-15 mandate by July of 2022.
