Despite Friday’s U.S. Supreme Court Decision over turning a lower court ruling that had struck down three small refinery exemptions, the Biofuels Coalition will continue pushing the EPA to follow the Renewable Fuel Standard and strike down most of the pending 70 SRE petitions. Attorney Matt Morrison who represents the Biofuels Coalition says they’ll be working with the EPA on their SRE issues of concern and pushing to have those denied.

He says there are other steps the EPA can take to make sure the RFS is complied with and that the statutory RFS volumes are met.

Morrison says the Supreme Court only ruled on one narrow issue and left others intact which means the EPA still must follow the volume requirements of the RFS.

The Biofuels Coalition that challenged the oil refiners on the SRE issue includes the Renewable Fuels Association, American Coalition for Ethanol, National Corn Grower’s Association and the National Farmers Union.
