]Testimony was given this week to the EPA on their 2019 renewable volume obligation proposal under the RFS. Most biofuel group representatives told the agency that the targets proposed by the EPA may seem promising but are meaningless unless the RFS waiver problem is fixed. Brooke Coleman, Executive Director of the Advanced Biofuels Business Council wants to work with interim administrator Andrew Wheeler in restoring demand lost by those waivers.
He says the interim EPA chief needs to move forward with not only stopping the waivers but also pushing forward positive biofuel policy.
Coleman says the RFS waivers granted during Pruitt’s tenure at the EPA not only damaged the renewable fuel industry but added economic stress to the ag economy which was already suffering.
Coleman says one way to boost biofuel demand is for the EPA to lift the Reid Vapor Pressure rule and allow E15 use all year long.
