Biofuel supporters from South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska testified at an EPA hearing Tuesday on their proposed RVO levels for the Renewable Fuel Standard for 2018 and 2019. The biofuel backers lauded the EPA for their timely release of the volume levels and the 15 billion gallons proposed for conventional ethanol. Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts says the EPA needs to raise the levels for advanced biofuels and biodiesel.
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds says the 2019 biodiesel levels need to be put at 2.75 billion gallons.
South Dakota farmer Keith Alverson who serves on the National Corn Growers Association Board says his group is concerned with the levels set for advanced biofuels and cellulosic ethanol.
The biofuel backers would like to see the EPA finalize these RFS RVO levels this November.
