Congress failed to pass a tax extenders measure containing the biodiesel tax credit before adjourning for the Christmas holiday. However, there may be another opportunity to get it approved when Congress considers a continuing resolution to fund the government January 19. National Biodiesel Board member and Nebraska farmer Greg Anderson hopes they can get the tax incentive included in the bill.
He says they want Congress to approve the extenders measure and make it retroactive.
Anderson says the biodiesel industry has great support in Congress. So, he thinks the chances of eventually getting it approved are fairly good.
Anderson says part of the reason Congress didn’t approve the tax extenders bill before the holiday break was they were focused on tax reform and getting a stop gap measure approved to fund the government.
